A little further out of town and 4 miles from the strip, it has a more laid-back feel and really embraces the relaxed desert vibe. Home of the bargain shrimp cocktail and the ‘original’ Vegas hotel and casino, the Golden Gate is pure vintage. Opened in 1906, it even had the telephone number 1 when the first phone came to town. Today it’s a huge draw, despite its small size. The casino has the usual slots and tables, as well as a high-limit gaming area and ‘dancing dealers’.
