The Beacham is the granddaddy of Orlando nightclubs. This venerable venue has been entertaining people for over 100 years, from Vaudeville to stand-up comedy, and live entertainment to DJ-led danceathons that’ll take you through to the small hours. Former DJ legends have made this club their US base, and the club has included guest spots from Paul Oakenfold, Afrojack and Flo Rida. The Blue Martini is particularly popular during its happy ‘hour’ (which because we’re in America is bigger, better, and lasts for four hours, not one!), when the drinks are considerably cheaper. Hit this one early, as once the sun sets it reinvents itself into one of the trendiest nightclubs in Orlando, with a super-cool crowd and some top-notch DJs.

Snug cabanas and music set at a level where you can still have a conversation without shouting “WHAT?” every five seconds, makes this a relaxed and super-cool spot. One of the Orlando’s top gay bars, Parliament House is one of the oldest and most established nightclubs in Orlando. It first burst into glorious life in the 1970s and has stayed fabulous ever since. Describing itself as serving ‘Darn Good Beer’, Orlando Brewing is at the vanguard of the Microbrewery boom in the USA. Craft beers are big news, and if your taste buds hanker after a meaty brew you can practically chew, this is the place to come. They opened the brewery in 2004 and have been producing award-winning brews ever since. They generally only use four ingredients – water, hops, yeast, and malted barley – but the results are incredible. Icebar Orlando is the largest permanent ice bar in the world and often pops up on ‘Best in the world’ lists. The Alchemy Lounge is chilled out and relaxed, with an upscale feel where you’re treated like a VIP from the second you step through the door. It has a particularly impressive wine list, but you won’t just find the usual Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays here, but a great selection of New World boutique wines too. The Alchemy Lounge has one more trick up its sleeve, too - the big USP for this unusual club is its choice of Hookah smoking pipes, so be prepared for the scent of various Hookah mixes throughout the club. It’s futuristic-meets-Alice in Wonderland and a bit of a novelty.

Usually, having the kids with you seriously restricts your ability to check out Orlando nightlife for yourself. If you love tequila, you’ll love La Cava. It’s not just a ‘slug it back’ shot experience, but a fully immersive dive into the history and heritage of Mexico’s finest contribution to alcoholic falling-down water. You’ll find this Orlando bar in the Mexico Pavilion at the Epcot World Showcase. It’s designed to replicate a hacienda cellar, so you get an intimate and cosy atmosphere with lowlights and super-comfortable leather sofas that’ll hold you captive once you’ve sunk into them. It’s been a stalwart in Orlando nightlife circles for 10 years, with an almost insane amount of craft beers on offer from all around the world.
